Kindergarten Team

Stacey joined Prince of Peace faculty as a kindergarten in 2001. Stacey has a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from Montevallo University and has prior experience from being a third-grade teacher for many years. Stacey is known for her calm, happy nature in the classroom. She welcomes the energy of her students and encourages each child to develop their skills as strong readers. Although she loves literature, Stacey also believes students learn by doing and loves hands-on math and science learning methods that help her students become confident thinkers.

Katherine Madonia is originally from Louisville, Kentucky and moved to Birmingham to attend Samford University. She received a BA in Psychology and a Master’s in Elementary Education. When she is not in the classroom, she loves spending time with her husband, Jake and their dog, Sophie. She is excited to share her joy for learning at Prince of Peace this year.

Katie is a Birmingham transplant from San Diego, California. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from the University of Alabama. She was a teacher with the Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE) program while she earned her master’s degree from the University of Notre Dame. Mrs. McDougal loves teaching children how to read. In the spring of 2023, she became LETRS certified. Katie is excited to teach the whole child within a Catholic environment.

Instructional Support
Gwen Skinner is a retired attorney. She is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, having moved to Hoover, Alabama with her late husband in 1991. She has been a parishioner of Prince of Peace Parish since that time. Gwen has served as a part-time aide for First Grade and Kindergarten teachers for over thirteen years. Her commitment to Prince of Peace School is based on a desire to perform whatever tasks her teachers require, whether working directly with a student or doing the behind-the-scenes prep for students’ special projects.
